Mom blasts Party City for limited selection of girls' costumes

Halloween is just about one month away and parents are busy trying to find the perfect costumes for their kids. But one mom isn't happy with the selection available for her 3-year-old at a popular retailer.

Lin Kramer wrote an open letter to Party City on Facebook, questioning why the store offers 16 career-themed costumes for boys and only three choices for young girls. According to Kramer, those three costumes include a cheerleader costume, a cowgirl costume, and a police uniform.

In her letter, Kramer noted, "In a world where Ronda Rousey and Danica Patrick are excelling, there are certainly girls who would be interested in that Toddler Boys Everlast Boxer Costume or that Turbo Racer Muscle Costume."

The company originally responded to her post, thanking Kramer for her feedback. However, in a later statement to NBC News, the company explained in part that "Party City supplies a broad assortment of costumes suitable for all styles, tastes, and budgets. We believe parents are as involved in their children's costume choices as they are in selecting their everyday attire..."
