College student on Segway arrested at Willowbrook Mall

HOUSTONA video on Facebook showing a man being arrested inside Willowbrook Mall is going viral.

Now the man and his family say they want police to make things right.

Jesse Valdez, 22, is charged with resisting arrest, but said he did nothing wrong and that a deputy with the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office overstepped and should be fired.

The video recorded by Valdez's brother starts with images of Valdez on the ground handcuffed with an officer on top of him.

The Precinct 4 Constable's Office said the officer approached Valdez and his brother after seeing him on a hover board, which are not allowed in the mall. Mall policy states that guests who violate rules will be asked to leave. Valdez said he never got that chance.

"I rode around the mall one time before I was approached by the officer," Valdez said. "The officer told me to get off the Segway. Instead of answering my question he applied force to me and took me off the Segway."

Constable Mark Herman said a use of force board will review the case to make sure department policies were followed. He also said he may pursue charges against Valdez's brother who recorded the incident. Herman said the brother was interfering with the arrest and inciting a riot.
