Texas cheerleaders' 9/11 anniversary routine gets mixed reactions

LUMBERTON, Texas – A Sept. 11 tribute cheer routine by some Texas cheerleaders is getting mixed reactions on the Internet.

Lumberton high school cheerleaders performed a 9/11 routine in honor of the 14th anniversary of the terror attacks. The song,"God Bless the U.S.A." played in the background during the routine, along with audio clips from live news reports from the scene and comments from President George W. Bush.

Some people said the video was a "disaster" and "tasteless," while others enjoyed it and appreciated the thought that went into the performance.

According to 12 News, one of Lumberton's cheer coaches said the cheerleaders have performed the 9/11 tribute routine since 2001, and the squad had practiced for two weeks.

"It's unbelievable. It certainly wasn't our intent. It's good to see their hard work pay off," said Lauren Sheffield about the trending reaction.
