CROSBY, Texas – Children inside a school bus were caught on video as their bus driver protected them from a woman trying to attack him and get inside.
Every day the bus driver starts and ends his routes at the Crosby Independent School District bus barn. Most days play out pretty much the same, but Tuesday when he returned from his route, he had to file a police report.
It was a typical ride home for Crosby students until their bus driver noticed a woman who he said was acting erratically approaching their bus.
"Her eyes were wide open. Her arms were flailing around," said bus driver Dave Cook.
He said the woman climbed on board, not taking no for an answer. In the video Cook can be heard telling her to get off: "You cannot come on my bus. No! I'm telling you!"
"Her reply was, 'I'm going to bite you!'" Cook said.
It was then that Cook knew he had to take action and protect his students.
"'When I get her off this seat, you have to push this black button right here,'" Cook said he told one of the students.
With help from the student in front, he got the woman off the bus and was able to shut the door.
"The adrenaline was pumping so much at that time it wasn't even an issue," he said.
It was definitely a first for Cook, who has been driving for Crosby for the past six years.
"She was aggressive and for whatever reason she wanted to bite me," said Cook.
Though many are now calling him a hero, he said he was just doing his job.
"The only thing I did was the same thing any of these bus drivers would do in this same situation," he said.
