Man arrested at La Porte pharmacy after standoff with police

LA PORTE, Texas – A crook is in jail after he tried to take money and drugs from a La Porte pharmacy Sunday.

Police were called to a shopping center when the pharmacy's owner received an alert from her alarm company at about 11 a.m.

When police surrounded the strip center, they made their way into the pharmacy and found a hole in the wall leading to other businesses.

Wesley Hicks, 31, allegedly broke through at least six walls and businesses to try to escape. Once he reached the end, he hid in a ceiling.

The La Porte Police Department said officers were able to get Hicks to come out about three hours later.

There is no word yet on what Hicks tried to take.
