HARRIS COUNTY – A 3-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital after he nearly drowned in a swimming pool in northwest Harris County on Thursday, the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department said.
According to authorities, they received the call around 5:40 p.m. in the 10200 block of Wortham Blvd. and FM 1960 at the Wynnewood Apartments.
"He was in the pool, my husband jumped in and got him, and I started CPR," said Angel Clark, a certified nursing assistant who told KPRC 2 she was at the pool with her family when the toddler nearly drowned. "I think it's good that I came to the pool today."
"She started asking him his name. 'How old are you?' He said "three." He came back to it," said Cam Jenkins, who was also at the pool.
Jenkins said he is friends with the toddler's mother and told KPRC 2 that she and the other adults were all swimming with the kids when at some point, the toddler fell into the pool.
Jenkins said the little boy's brother was the first to notice he was underwater.
"At first, they were playing in the little pool right there and out of nowhere, he was like, 'Where's my brother at?'" said Jenkins. "When he came out, his eyes were closed. But as soon as he spit up the water, he was good after that."
People nearby called 911 and paramedics came out to take the boy to Memorial Hermann Hospital.
No word on his condition.
Jenkins said the little boy will recover.
