At least 1 person in custody after standoff at South Houston motel
HOUSTON – Law enforcement officials surrounded a motel in the city of South Houston Wednesday after a domestic disturbance call in which a couple was barricaded inside.
The incident started around 2 p.m. at the La Fronda motel on Winkler at Highway 3. Police responded to the scene and the couple retreated into the room when officers arrived. The couple refused to come out.
People in nearby rooms were evacuated.
A tactical team was in communication with the couple and they finally came out of the motel peacefully around 5:30 p.m.
Both of them were taken into custody. The man will likely be released with no charges.
Tracy Lavern Heslip is facing a charge of unlawful restraint. Heslip, 38, is being held in the Harris County Jail on $5,000 bond.
