Friendswood police said at about 9:45 p.m. July 29, Bush went to Stevenson Park where a woman was walking around the track.

Authorities said Bush approached the woman from behind and was "yelling and screaming about the return of his property."

Officials said when the woman tried to run to her vehicle, Bush followed her and wouldn't let her leave. Police said the victim was on the phone with her boyfriend, who heard the yelling and called police.

Investigators said Bush then took the woman's cellphone and threw it to the ground.

Friendswood police released a statement that read in part:

"He has threatened to kill her and has assaulted her in the past.  Despite warnings from police, Bush's violence appears to be increasing. The victim has also seen him following her and driving by her home on a daily basis."

Police said that while an officer was still with the victim at the park, Bush called the Friendswood Police Department and asked to speak with an officer at his home in the 900 block of Sandringham Drive.

Officers said that while at his home, Bush became agitated during questioning. Authorities said they tried to take Bush into custody for interfering with a 911 call, but he ran from police toward his house.

"The officers chased him down, and after a brief struggle, he was taken into custody," Friendswood police said in a statement. "At the jail, the officer was able to review reports of prior incidents involving the victim and Bush."

Bush is being held in lieu of $13,000 bond.

Police said an emergency protective order has been requested against Bush by the victim.
