Fort Hood soldier from Houston found dead

FORT HOOD, Texas – A Fort Hood solider from Houston was found dead Sunday, according to Army officials.

Authorities said Spc. Brenton Wade Blume, 21, began his service in October 2012 as a combat engineer. KPRC 2 was told Blume had been assigned to 20th Engineer Batallion, 36th Engineer Brigade at Fort Hood since June.

The Army said Blume served in Afghanistan from March 2013 to November 2013.

"Blume's awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with campaign star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Medal, NATO Medal, and Combat Action Badge," the Army said in a statement.

Officials said Blume's death remains under investigation.
