Crews responding to 5-alarm fire at landfill in Fort Bend County

FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas – Crews are responding to a five-alarm fire at a landfill Saturday, according to the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office.

Officials said the fire is at the WCA Landfill at F.M. 1994 and F.M. 762 near Needville.

Multiple fire departments, including the Fairchild and Needvile fire departments, are working to put the fire out. Crews are pumping water out of a nearby lake to help extinguish it, according to authorities.

KPRC 2 was told the fire had been burning for about an hour as of 10 p.m.
