HOUSTON – A former J.C. Penney employee said she was sent home for wearing shorts that were "too revealing" - shorts that were apparently purchased in J.C. Penney's career style section.

Sylva Stoel, 17, told Today.com that she was at work for about 10 minutes before she was approached about her shorts. She was told to go home and change, but instead, Stoel quit on the spot.

Stoel shared a photo on Twitter with the caption:

"Boss sent me home for wearing "too revealing" shorts that I bought from the store I work at in the career section."

J.C. Penney responded with a statement:

"JCPenney's dress code policy for store associates prohibits the wearing of shorts of any length. This policy applies to both male and female associates."
