Boxes of nails fall on North Freeway, puncture several tires

HOUSTON – Some drivers had to deal with a headache on the way home Thursday evening.

Boxes of nails fell onto the North Freeway, puncturing several tires. Vu Nguyen told KPRC 2 that he had to swerve out of the way of two to three boxes that seemed to have fallen out of another truck. He said at first he though confetti was coming out of the boxes, but later found nails lodged in all four of his tires.

When Nguyen went to the tire shop to get them all repaired, he found other drivers there with the same problem. 

"When (the repairman) came up to my truck and he inspected it ... (he said) 'We have three other cars that have these nails with orange tabs in them.'"

Three of Nguyen's truck tires had to be replaced. It was not clear Thursday night who dropped the boxes.
