HOUSTON – Red Cross teams are working around the clock at the statewide disaster headquarters to help those already affected by recent floods and tornadoes as well as those displaced by the latest tropical storm system.
Shelters provide food, cots, and blankets in a safe place to stay overnight.

Reception centers are not shelters, but offer information and respite. The following reception centers are open to for those who are evacuating and need a safe place to stay:

- St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church, 10330 Hillcroft St., Houston, TX 77096
- Holy Name Catholice Church, 1920 Marion St., Houston, TX 77009
What people should bring to the shelter or reception center:
Any medications they take, activities for children, phone chargers, important documents, toiletries, change of clothes, and any other items they require on a daily basis.
Pet owners who need a safe place for their domestic animals should contact the ASPCA animal shelter at 281-686-9744 or 713-380-5353.

If you are affected by the storms, let your friends and family know you are safe by registering on Safe and Well. Visit redcross.org.safeandwell to register online.
Anyone impacted by the storm anywhere in Texas and needing Red Cross assistance should call the Statewide Disaster Hotline at 877-500-8645.
With more severe weather forecast for portions of the state, the Red Cross Statewide Relief Headquarters is expected to remain operational for an undetermined amount of time. Residents are urged to remain weather aware.
