FBI: 2 Texas men traveled to Turkey to join ISIS

Agents arrested man in Spring this morning, other man believed to be in Syria

SPRING – A 20-year-old man was arrested this morning outside his home after federal agents found several Facebook messages detailing his plans to join the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.

The complaint details the plan of Khan and another Texas man who allegedly conspired with a terrorist recruiter in Turkey.

On February 24, 2014 both Khan and his friend travelled to Turkey. Khan returned to Houston the next day because his family members told him his mother was ill.

The friend, is only referred to as S.R.G. in the complaint, apparently made it to Syria and joined terrorist fighters by late March.

The complaint said that S.R.G.'s Facebook photos show him wearing camouflage and AK-47 rifles are pictured behind him.

The conspiracy played out through Facebook messages  between January 2014 through February 2014 between Khan and S.R.G as well as a Turkish based recruiter referred to as CC-1.

Khan had moved from the Houston area to Sydney Australia during the time he was communicating with S.R.G. and CC-1.

On January 6, 2014 Khan allegedly had a conversation with S.R.G. informing his friend that he was planning to go to Iraq soon to join the Islamic state of Iraq and sham and invited S.R.G to join him.

"I'll send you a couple of lectures tomorrow as well to get you familiar with fighting in Islam and all that", wrote Khan in a message according to the complaint.

On January 11, 2014 Khan reached out to CC-1 stating that he wanted to join ISIS and wanted help getting there.  He explained that he wanted to help his brothers and sisters to seek his 'maker's mercy'.

The complaint also explains an interaction on January 19 where CC-1 aparently asked Khan if he was serious about joining Isis.

"I don't want to fight for war booty of for nationalism.  I want to just rise the laws of Allah and be a Shaheed in his cause, " wrote Khan in a message detailed in the complaint.

Khan is scheduled to appear before a federal judge on Wednesday in Houston.
