HOUSTON – As a recruiter for the U.S. Army, Sgt. Tony Young works with young adults who have expressed interest in joining the military. But the 40-year-old has found himself on the wrong side of the law, accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old potential enlistee from Wallis.
According to court documents, she met Young at her high school when the Army recruiters were prospecting for new recruits. Young allegedly began dating the girl and took her back to his Katy area home to have sex with her three times over the course of several weeks. Police said the girl told them that even though she wanted nothing more to do with Young, she sent him nude photos and videos of herself.
According to court papers, she felt like she had to comply because she had to retest for the military again. A man who identified himself as the girl's grandfather said his granddaughter is struggling right now but hopes to one day join the military.
"Life isn't the same. I just tell her to keep her head on straight," he said.
Young is currently out on bond and is due back in court on May 29.
