HOUSTON – In the age of social media, one can find themselves embroiled in a controversy just as quickly as they pressed the 'Tweet' button.

The Houston Rockets were putting the finishing touches on a 104-93 win in Game 5 for their first series win in the playoffs in six years. With about a minute left in regulation, the Rockets' official Twitter sent a tweet with a gun emoji to a horse's head, followed by the comment, "Shhhhh. Just close your eyes. It will all be over soon."

Not long after, the tweet was removed and the Rockets were apologizing.

"Our Tweet earlier was in very poor taste & not indicative of the respect we have for the @dallasmavs & their fans. We sincerely apologize."

The Mavericks' official Twitter account was one of many to take umbrage to the tweet.

"Not very classy but we still wish you guys the best of luck in the next round," their reply said.

Do you take offense to the tweet made by the Rockets? Do you think the Mavericks and other Twitter users overreacted?  Continue the discussion below, on Facebook and Twitter.
