PASADENA, Texas – A woman was arrested Saturday night after police say she bought a bottle of wine, hid it in a water bottle and drove off without her 12-year-old son.

Officers said the boy did not know where he was but tried to walk parallel to Highway 225 because he knew that it led to Baytown, where he lived. He stopped at the Monument Chevrolet to ask for help and employees there called police.

The boy told police what happened and that his father worked out-of-state.

Police said they reached the boy's father and that the boy's grandmother came to the scene to pick him up. According to Pasadena police, Salinas then showed up and wanted her son back. Police said she began to curse at police and her son.

She was arrested for child abandonment and endangering a child with intent to return.

The 12-year-old was released to his grandmother, along with his 1-year-old sister and 15-year-old brother.
