HOUSTON – A victim's family yelled a few curse words at a convicted rapist as he was led out of a courtroom on Monday.
Ricky Lee Zepeda, 35, also got an earful directly from the two women he attacked separately in January 2014.
"What he did was wrong. It took a lot for me – from me – to get up there and say what I needed to say," one of the victims told KPRC 2.
Zepeda was sentenced on four charges. He received a 60-year sentence for aggravated sex assault, a 60-year sentence for aggravated robbery, a 60-year sentence for burglary of a habitation and a 20-year sentence for aggravated sex assault. The sentences will be served concurrently and Zepeda will be eligible for parole after 30 years.
Prosecutors said he savagely raped two Cypress-area women after breaking into their homes.
"What it would take to kick in a door and rape two women then not even look at them when giving their statement," said prosecutor Joshua Phanco.
One victim is a mother and she had children in the next room when she was attacked.
"A person can't just go back to normal and be expected to run their lives the same way they did," said the victim.
