SEALY, Texas – A Houston man was killed by a tree at Stephen F. Austin State Park near Sealy on Saturday morning.
The park manager said Charles Devier, 64, was sleeping on a hammock during the storms when a tree fell on top of him.

Devier was a scout leader and volunteer for 20 years. The park manager said he was very loved by people at the park and that he was a member of Friends of Stephen F. Austin State Park, a group that aims to support the park through volunteer work and fundraising.
Devier's death was investigated by the Austin County Sheriff's Office.
