La Porte residents cleaning up after overnight flooding

HOUSTON – When Mother Nature strikes some La Porte residents say there's little you can do to block her jabs, except watch and wait.

Heavy April showers brought some unexpected spring cleaning for residents who live in the Glen Meadow subdivision. As the rain began to fall Friday night, the water began to rise, flooding cars and homes.

Brenda Venissat says the flooding hasn't been this bad in years.

"The water came through our garage, into our living room and when I walked in the water was past my knees, and I'm (5 feet 1 inch tall)," says Venissat.

When she got outside she saw her car was not where she had parked it. Venissat says her car just floated out of the driveway during the flood.

Neighbors in La Porte said they will pitch in on the weekend to help each other get back on their feet.
