BRAZORIA, Texas – Officers with the Brazoria Police Department will be wearing body cameras, the department announced on Thursday.

According to Brazoria police, the department bought eight police body cameras for $5,445. The department bought WOLFCOM 3RD EYE cameras because of their night vision capabilities. The purchase included car kits and mounts as well as radio cables.

Sgt. Carlos Garcia said the department bought the body cameras because they lost their budget for mounted dashboard cameras inside patrol cars. "Some criminals will make complaints, but we can always back it up with body camera footage to disprove allegations that aren't true," said Garcia in a press release.

Wearing the cameras is mandatory for officers.
