KATY, Texas – A father shot and killed his son who intervened in the middle of a fight with his wife, then fled the scene with his mistress who was waiting nearby, according to Katy police.

The shooting happened at a home in the 6600 block of Gorton at Doonside around 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say the husband, Ulysses Beaudoin, returned home while his mistress waited in her car around the corner from his house.

When Beaudoin entered his home, he and his wife began arguing.  That is when the couple's 22-year-old son, Ulysses Nelson, came to the defense of his mother.

The father pulled out a gun and shot his son, who died at the scene, police sayt. The father also threatened his 18-year-old son who ran next door to a neighbor's house for help, police say.

Beaudoin fled the home, abandoned his SUV in the middle of the road, then jumped into a Dodge Charger with his girlfriend and took off.

Police caught up with them at a Shell gas station on Fry Road at Mound and took Beaudoin into custody.
