Mayor Annise Parker said the move will keep the local economy strong and contribute more sustainable technologies to Houston.
"Siemens is a great corporate partner and we welcome this addition to the energy corridor," Parker said in a statement. "It represents strengthening of the company's already very broad involvement in the Houston region. We feel the Siemens impact in everything from the well-paying jobs that keep our economy strong to the sustainable technologies that are helping to improve the environment and quality of life."
The new headquarters will be based on West Memorial Drive.
"Our Houston location is critical for Siemens' long-term growth as it brings us closer to upstream, midstream and downstream customers," said Siemens Managing Board member Lisa Davis. "Siemens' expertise in automation, electrical systems, data analytics, and service combined with our existing portfolio, including Rolls-Royce industrial aero-derivative gas turbines, and our agreement to acquire Houston-based Dresser-Rand, fortifies our position as the most complete, end-to-end rotating equipment and process automation provider in the market today."
