PEARLAND, Texas – Six students were arrested in an undercover drug bust, similar to the TV show and movie "21 Jump Street," at Pearland and Dawson high schools, police said.
"School is not a place that you should come in and try to sell your drugs, or come in and buy drugs, you go there to be educated," said Sgt. James Brawner of the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office.
Between August 2014 and March 2015, a Brazoria County Sheriff's Office deputy assumed the identity of a student and enrolled at the high schools. The investigation was initiated by Pearland ISD.
An undercover officer was at Pearland High from Aug. 25 through Dec. 19, 2014, then at Dawson High from Jan. 6 through March 27, 2015.
Drugs seized during the bust include cocaine, marijuana, xanax and tramadol.
"You (have) got to stop this, this doesn't need to be in our school system," said Dean Taylor, a Pearland ISD student.
One adult student and two juvenile students arrested were from Pearland High School. The one adult was identified as 18-year-old Aaron Coleman.
Three adult students were arrested from Dawson High School: Kevin Lambert, 18; Jonathan Gonzales, 17; and Matthew Van Richardson, 18.
Ten charges, including delivery of marijuana delivery of a controlled substance and delivery of a dangerous drug, were filed.
But the investigation isn't over.
"There is still ongoing off campus investigations," Brawner told KPRC 2. "We have wrapped up on campus, and now we are moving out into the communities and trying to further it that way."
