HOUSTON – A mother and her teenage daughter were arrested Tuesday after fighting another student at Langham Creek High School.
The brawl was caught on video and went viral, with students posting images to social media.
A spokesperson for Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District said the mother bypassed the school's front desk and joined her daughter in fighting a female student.
CFISD said they didn't know what the fight was about, but sources told Channel 2 the mother came to the school to confront a girl who had been bullying her daughter.
The video appears to show the pair repeatedly punching the teen who struggles to get away. After several minutes, school security guards and staff manage to break up the fight.
In a statement to Channel 2, CFISD spokeswoman Nicole Ray said, "We are outraged and disappointed by the incident that took place today. Campus police were able to quickly intervene and the suspects were arrested. This type of behavior will not be tolerated and we will work with law enforcement to ensure that the parties involved are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
The Harris County Sheriff's Office and Harris County District Attorney's Office are now investigating.
