HOUSTON – A wayward driveshaft dealt roughly a dozen drivers quite a blow on I-45 near exit 66A Wednesday morning.
"Yeah, it was pretty bad," said Rick Leonard, who blew two tires after running over the drive shaft.
"The moment I hit it my truck went to bouncing. I knew I had a flat tire then," he said.
Leonard said he pulled over and noticed at least 10 drivers along the shoulder. He also found what they had hit, and truck from which the drive shaft fell.
"I walked back down there and got it. Put it in the back of my truck and found the dump truck that actually lost the drive shaft," Leonard said.
The dump truck belonged to a company called Ramos Truck Service. A representative from the company was at the accident scene, but would not comment to KPRC.
Meantime, those affected say they are ready to move on and get their cars fixed.
"Go through the channels, get with their insurance and see what happens," Leonard said.
