HPD: Mom caught on video violently slapping, throwing toddlers

HOUSTON – A Houston mother was jailed after videos surfaced of her abusing two of her young children, according to Houston police.

Holly McCurdy, 27, was charged with two counts of injury to a child.

Police found multiple videos of McCurdy lashing out in violent outbursts toward her toddlers.

In one incident recorded on Sept. 8, 2014, McCurdy's 3-year-old daughter was seen touching laundry while sitting on the couch.  McCurdy yelled, "you better not be touching that," then slapped the girl on the head and violently threw her on the sofa.  You could hear the slapping sounds on the video, according to court documents.

The video then shows McCurdy's 2-year-old son trying to get out of the room and seemingly away from his mom.  McCurdy then walked over to the boy and a slapping sound was heard as she struck him on the head and in the shoulder area.

McCurdy then redirected her attention back to her daughter, who was lying on the sofa.  She struck the girl two more times.  The girl began to cry loudly, then McCurdy flipped the girl over and screamed at her.

Another video recorded on Sept. 17, 2014, shows McCurdy's son walking from behind the sofa.  McCurdy yelled at the boy, "I told you to sit in the [expletive] chair, then grabbed the boy and threw him violently into a wooden chair.  The boy screamed out in pain.

Police spoke with the children's brother, a 7-year-old boy who is autistic. He allegedly told police his mother strikes them, knocks them down, screams at them and throws them. The boy said he stays in his room to hide from his mom.

McCurdy is being held at the Harris County Jail on a $40,000 bond.
