Family members discover relative shot, killed in NE Houston home

HOUSTON – Police are investigating after a man was found dead inside his northeast Houston home Saturday night.

According to the Houston Police Department, the man's family members were concerned about him because they had not heard from him in several days. When they arrived at his home on Sadler Street near Curry Road around 11 p.m., they discovered the man dead inside and called police.

The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Anthony Walton. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

People who live in the neighborhood are shocked.

"He didn't deserve that. He was a very nice person," one neighbor said. "I can't understand why anyone would want to do that. He would help you if he could help you. He didn't bother too many people. It is really a strange situation right now."

Homicide investigators are questioning the Walton's girlfriend to see if she knows anything about the death. Investigators said they found nothing obviously disturbed in the home and did not have a motive for the shooting.

No charges have been filed at this time.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
