ROSENBERG, Texas – A father of three was shot and killed outside his home in Rosenberg after his dog attacked a neighbor's dog.
It happened at about 10:46p.m. Friday on the 900 block of Seabourne Meadows Drive.
KPRC 2 spoke to the family of the victim, Victor Navarro, 38. Loved ones arrived at his home on Saturday to give the family their condolences.
"Everyone looked up to him so I don't want them to be hurt like I am. I just want to be strong for them," said Navarro's niece Brittany Villaloboz. "He was just a very happy person and wasn't ready to go."
According to Rosenberg Police, Navarro's dog got loose and ran to a neighbor's front yard, where he attacked another dog.
The neighbor, who refused to speak to KPRC 2 on camera, said the accused gunman, Joshua Nelson, 35, is a friend.
Navarro's family said Nelson confronted Navarro about the attack and the two got into an argument.
Police said Nelson shot Navarro multiple times and he died on the scene.
"It didn't have to go like that. It could have been done a different way. I hope he gets what he deserves," said Villaloboz.
Nelson is in jail on a $50,000 bond.
