Nurse's aide accused of stealing from patients

HOUSTON – A former nurse's aide is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from patients and their relatives at MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Alicia Monet Campbell, 23, is charged with felony theft from the elderly.

According to charging documents, from May 2014 until September 2014, Campbell worked an overnight shift at the hospital. University of Texas Police say that's when she stole cash from wallets and purses inside patient's rooms.

UT police have connected Campbell to at least nine crimes, and say she admitted to stealing $2,700 but detectives believe the amount could be as high as $6,000 with many more victims.

Campbell was originally arrested in this case in October 2014, however the charges were recently upgraded and investigators issued a new warrant for her arrest.
