Houston Texans focus on QBs as NFL free agency period kicks off

HOUSTON – The NFL free agency period officially opens Tuesday afternoon and the Texans should be busy.

Houston already re-signed QB Ryan Mallett and multiple reports indicate the team is close to signing former Cleveland Browns QB Brian Hoyer.

The Texans traded QB Case Keenum to the Rams in exchange for a 7th round draft pick, according to ESPN.

Ryan Fitzpatrick and Tom Savage are the other quarterbacks still on the roster.

Sports Illustrated is reporting the Falcons have signed former Texans linebacker Brooks Reed.

The Texans officially released WR Andre Johnson on Monday, so the team may pursue a wide receiver.

Brian Hartline, the former Dolphins receiver the Texans were interested in, reportedly signed with the Browns.

Houston re-signed defensive back Kareem Jackson and offensive lineman Derek Newton, and released center Chris Myers.

The Seahawks and Saints created shockwaves when New Orleans opted to deal tight end Jimmy Graham to Seattle.

Former Texans tight end will be reuniting with former Houston coach Gary Kubiak once again. After playing one season in Baltimore, Daniels will be joining Kubiak in Denver.
