Man accused of trying to rape woman at Dickinson motel

DICKINSON, Texas – Dickinson police arrested a man at a motel investigators said was trying to sexually assault a woman.

According to witnesses, Vicente Reynaldo Sandoval, 29, had a knife and grabbed a woman by the arm, forced her onto a bed and made her remove her clothing at the Economy Inn on West FM 517 and Hughes Lane in Dickinson around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

When the woman yelled for help, people who were in nearby rooms were able to subdue Sandoval until officers arrived, according to police.

Sandoval is charged with attempted aggravated sexual assault.

Investigators said Sandoval first told officers he was beaten while trying to sell speakers at the motel.

Sandoval's bond was set at $40,000.
