PD: Woman caught on video stealing from bail bondsman freeing her from jail

FRIENDSWOOD, Texas – A New Caney woman who was arrested for intoxication on Valentine's Day found herself in the slammer twice within a few hours after she stole from her bail bondsman, according to Friendswood police.

Taryn Renee Hatfield, 20, was arrested on Feb.14 at 3:15 a.m. for public intoxication.  She contacted a local bonding company to get her out of jail, but ripped off the bondsman who was working to free her, police said.

At around 7:15 a.m., the bondsman was in the lobby of the Friendswood Police Department completing the necessary paperwork to secure and finalize Hatfield's release. When the bondsman looked away for a split second, Hatfield allegedly snatch her cellphone.

Hatfield left the police department with her ride, but she wasn't free for long.  The bondsman realized that her phone was missing and asked police to check surveillance video. That is when they saw Hatfield taking the property.

Police called Hatfield and told her she was seen on video stealing from the bondsman. The officer negotiated Hatfield's surrender along with the return of the phone.

Hatfield was charged with theft and booked into the Galveston County Jail.  Her bond was set at $1,500.

Not only was Hatfield slapped with the new charge, the bonding company revoked the municipal court bond for the public intoxication charge.

Hatfield was left to find a new bonding company to bail her out on both charges.
