HOUSTON – An action-packed superhero show complete with flashing lights, fancy special effects and dramatic stunts came to a halt Sunday when one of the performing characters got hurt during a performance at NRG Stadium on Sunday.
The performer was released from the hospital Sunday evening, according to event officials.
"This generic villain, he fell down and missed the crash pad," attendee Jennifer Win said.
Win came to NRG Stadium to watch "Marvel Universe LIVE!" with her son. She said they were sitting in a front row when they say one of the performers fell during a jump stunt in a fight scene.
"Is the guy OK? Are his bones broken? I don't know," Win said. "Once they placed him on the stretcher, he gave a big thumbs up and the crowd just gave him applause."
A spokesperson for Marvel Universe LIVE! released the following statement:
"One of the performers sustained an injury during the 12 p.m. performance of Marvel Universe LIVE! on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at NRG Stadium in Houston. The situation resulted in a halt in the performance for approximately 20 minutes, during which time medical care professionals tended to the performer and transported him to a local hospital for further care. No further updates are available at this time."
The remaining Marvel performances Sunday will continue.
