27-year-old arrested for shooting, killing man in Ames No description found
AMES, Texas – A 27-year-old was arrested in Ames in Liberty County for shooting and killing another man Thursday.
The Liberty County sheriff's dispatcher got a call about a civil disturbance just before 6 a.m. Before deputies arrived, a second caller reported that a man had been shot.
Deputies said they found Tracy Holmes lying dead in the intersection of Baker Circle and Kellum Street with a gunshot wound to the head.
Investigators said there had been a confrontation between Brandon Lee Jenkins and Holmes over Jenkins' physical abuse of Jenkins' daughter. Jenkins has children with Holmes' daughter.
According to investigators, Jenkins shot Holmes and then fled the scene. Deputies found him hiding in a nearby shed. He was arrested and charged with murder.
