Reward offered for information on murder of woman in downtown Houston

HOUSTON – Crime Stoppers and the Houston Police Department's Homicide Division need the public's help identifying the person who murdered a woman in downtown Houston.

The body of Melanie Tanner was discovered about 8 a.m. Nov. 19 lying in a ditch in the 6900 block of Madrid Street. She had suffered multiple stab wounds to her torso.  It also appeared that Tanner struggled with her attacker before her violent death.

Police said Tanner's activities just prior to her death are unknown at this time and they do not have a suspect.

Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.  All callers will remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
