Caught on camera: Employee shoots at suspects during robbery in Richmond

RICHMOND, Texas – Richmond Police are looking for four masked robbers tried to rob the Gold Connection store on Highway 90A last Thursday. Store surveillance video shows they went into the store with their guns drawn, with hoods over their heads while wearing bandanas.

When employees saw them come in, several employees took off and ran to a business next door. Owner, Jane Parker said, "We happened to see them get out of the van and run toward the building so three of us took out through the office and through the front door of the other building."

The robbers were seen jumping over the counter. Police said they took a woman to a back room and tied her up. Officers said another robber forced a man to the ground in another room.

As the four left the store, Parker said, the jeweler who was forced to the ground grabbed his gun and shot at the robbers. She said the robbers shot back at least twice hitting her store.

Police said the robbers took off in a stolen van that was found just down the street.  Nothing was taken from the store. No one was hurt. She added security and hopes to keep this from happening again.

Parker said, "Thank God they didn't steal anything here.  But it was because we were so quick in reacting and I know it would be devastating if everything were taken."

Police ask that if you recognize the robbers, please call Ft. Bend Crime Stoppers at 281-342-TIPS (8477). You can remain anonymous and could earn a $5,000 cash reward.
