Fans line up for concert tickets to Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

HOUSTON – When tickets went on sale for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo concerts Saturday morning, hundreds of people said they had long wait times, error messages and connectivity issues.

Carolyn Adelman tried to buy tickets at home but couldn't even get her computer to work, so she had to come to the box office at NRG Stadium on Tuesday morning.

"It's so much easier to buy it online," Adelman said.

Local 2 first told you about the new AXS ticket buying system that is being used. But it is now clear that many buyers did not understand how to use the online system.

Executives with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo admit there were problems with the ticket-buying process online over the weekend and say they are already working on making some corrections to the process next year.

"One of the major complaints we have received was the wait time in the waiting room," Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo CEO Joel Cowley said. "We really need to more clearly communicate it is really no advantage to getting in the waiting room at 9 a.m. versus 9:55 a.m. So those thinking it's first come first serve in the waiting room, they may have waited a while."

Local 2 also found out that some mobile users encountered connection problems for about 30 minutes Saturday during the time when the tickets went on sale. Some complained of how good floor-level seats were already taken when tickets went on sale.

Rodeo management says it's always been that way. Season ticket holders have advanced purchasing options.
