"With this specific location, this is actually our second time to come out here," said Monica Schmidt of the Houston Humane Society. "The first time we took away a deceased horse. Based on the necropsy and the condition of that animal, as well as the condition of this one, we were then able to get a warrant signed by a judge to take this horse as well."

The woman who owns the property told Local 2 her family member owns the horse and does care for it.

"I don't know why they (are) taking that horse away from her, because that horse has been fed. Now she had one to die, but she had called for them to come pick it up. And then, they checked the other one but as far as I know, the horse has been fed. What (are) they trying to do, take all the horses out of Acres Homes, is that what they are planning on doing?"

The Humane Society said the horse has a skin infection, a hoof injury, an old untreated wound on its leg and lice. The owner of the horse must appear in court on January 26th.
