HOUSTON – A pair of teenage siblings say they are lucky to be alive after coming face to face with an armed intruder. It happened just before noon Tuesday at a home in the 12000 block of Cardiff Road in northeast Houston.
"I was freaking out, I was crying," said 16-year-old Elizabeth Puente.
She was home with her 18-year-old brother Matt, enjoying the last day of winter break, when they say a car pulled into the driveway. Someone got out and knocked on the door, then got back in the car and drove off.
But a few minutes later, they heard noises at the back of the house.
"He was kicking in the door, the double doors in the back," Matt Puente said.
Matt ran to find his sister and that's when he came face to face with the burglar who pointed a gun at him.
"He told me to get down on floor and shut up," Matt said.
Instead, Matt ran to the bathroom where he found his sister. The pair hid and called 911 as the robber ran away.
Police believe the thief got away in a white Dodge Caravan, driven by a woman. If you have any information call CrimeStoppers 713-222-TIPS (8477).
