HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – The wife of a man who was shot dead in his car in northwest Harris County Sunday evening is hoping authorities find her husband's killer.
Sydney Rose was found dead in his car at the Saddlewood Apartments on Bammel North Houston Road. He leaves behind a wife and two teenage kids.
Shanita Chapman was in tears telling Local 2 how her husband was gunned down in the parking lot and left for dead.
"My daughter says 'I can't believe they shot my daddy in the head!' There's a lot of things you try to keep from children. How can you ever keep this?"
Chapman said authorities notified her that her husband had been shot and killed while in the driver seat of her white Lexus.
Authorities said the car ran into a pole in the carport and was still running when they arrived.
"The only thing I know is that he was shot and obviously he was trying to get away in the car but ended up crashing into the pole," Chapman said.
Witnesses reported seeing several men running away from the scene. Deputies questioned people at the apartments Sunday night but so far have no suspects.
Chapman says she wants their information to help find her husband's killer.
"You shot him down like a dog," she said. "He had family, he had kids. My son grows up without a father now."
