HOUSTON – Starting next week, you should expect traffic delays if you or someone you know will be flying in or out of Hobby Airport.

New construction will impact the airport's passenger drop-off area. All passenger drop-off traffic will be rerouted to the lower level arrivals area beginning Dec. 15 through Dec. 18.

Travelers are encouraged to arrive at the airport at least two hours before their scheduled boarding time. Peak travel times are 6 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

According to the Houston Airport System, drivers picking up arriving passengers should use the Cell Phone Waiting Lot, as opposed to circling the airport roads. The lot can be found off Airport Boulevard, west of the main entry.

The roadway modifications are necessary to accommodate construction of a $156 million international terminal at the airport. Hobby Airport is approaching the final year of construction on a new five-gate international terminal and four-level parking garage scheduled to open in late 2015.
