Harris County resident concerned after package dropped off in front of driveway

USPS driver seen on video leaving package in plain sight

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – With the holidays right around the corner, millions of packages will be delivered across the world. But with that comes the concern of gifts breaking in the mail or even getting stolen before making it to proper person.

Steven Reeves lives in Northwest Harris County and said a U.S. Postal Service driver was recently seen on his security camera dropping a package and then leaving it near the front of his driveway in plain view.

He said that's not OK and even though the two packages weren't stolen, they could have been and that's the issue.

"If it was something extremely valuable then, it could have easily been stolen. The packages sat out there for 45 minutes and at the angle it was sitting, we could have easily driven over it or backed over it," Reeves said.

A USPS spokesperson said delivery drivers are supposed to take packages as close to the door as possible and not leave them in plain view in the driveway.

Reeves told Local 2 he filed a complaint with USPS and is hoping for some type of an apology.
