Houston Texans DE Jadeveon Clowney out for rest of season to undergo second knee surgery

HOUSTON – Houston Texans head Bill O' Brien announced Thursday that first round draft pick Jadeveon Clowney will be out for the remainder of the season due to a second knee surgery.

Clowney was limited to four games this season because of the injury in the season opener against Washington. He underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee after that game.

"This guy's a football player. He wants to play football, he wants to be good. He was disappointed," said O'Brien.

"That's what needs to be done to try to get him healthy... when he's healthy, we know what he's capable of," said Texans defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel.

The Texans drafted Clowney out of the University of South Carolina with the first overall pick in May's NFL Draft.
