After a jury was selected, Stafford Police Officer Ann Carrizales took the stand. Then the prosecution showed video of the chase and video of the shots being fired.

It was around 3:38 a.m. on Oct. 26, 2013, when Carrizales stopped to question three suspicious men in a car, all members of a notorious Houston gang.

According to investigators, within minutes the passenger in the front seat, Rodriguez, opened fire and shot Carrizales in the face. Police said he also shot her in the chest.

Carrizales did chase the suspects for 20 miles, but they got away. All were eventually tracked down. Rodriguez was nabbed first. Henriquez and Cruz were caught in early November 2013.

Testimony continues Thursday at 9 a.m.
