HOUSTON – Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt spent his day off Tuesday making pizza instead of plays, surprising fans and raising money for his charity.
Watt, who delivered pizza during college, spent the day refreshing his skills, making pizzas at a local Papa John's store, then delivering pizzas.
"I haven't had much time to sharpen my skill since my delivery days, but it was fun to get out there," Watt told Local 2.
Chad Kelly, of Houston, was the lucky winner of a pizza party with Watt Tuesday afternoon.
"Of course I'm excited. J.J. Watt's coming with Papa John's," Kelly said.
Watt even played a game of cornhole with Kelly.
Each week through football season, the company will donate 10 percent of Tuesday sales to the Justin J. Watt Foundation, which supports middle school athletes.
"We go into middle schools that aren't as fortunate as I was growing up and we try and give them opportunities so that those kids will have an opportunity for success," said Watt.
To date, the J.J. Watt Foundation has raised more than $600,000 for student-athletes.
