Humble, Kingwood areas battle high water

The northeast side, including Humble, Kingwood and porter were not immune to high water Friday.

The problems with rising water started early in Kingwood, making this mornings commute to school and work a headache.

Homes and businesses in the area had some flooding. For some, the water stayed in the yard. Others weren't so lucky.

In Atascosita, the creeks were overflowing with rain water.

Stella Sanders lives in Porter. A few inches of water covered the first floor of her home earlier today. It's gone down, but left behind a big mess. Even a little water requires a lot of work.

"There's dirt that comes in and the water you have to mop it all up," she said. "Wait a few days for the walls to dry, then spray everything with bleach. It's a big job."

Sanders is thankful she lives on the second floor of her building, so most of her things stayed dry. She's hoping her yard will dry out also.
