HOUSTON – A local man spent part of his weekend in the hospital recovering after being thrown from the hood of a moving car.
Omar Delafuentes says he was out with some of his friends in the Rice Village area and noticed a woman backing into his brand new truck across the street.
He ran to confront her and that's when things turned violent. According to HPD, India Bradley-Hall put her car in drive and drove into the man.
"She just wouldn't stop, she just kept going fast and faster," Delafuentes told Local 2 from his hospital bed.
Delafuentes says he lodged his feet into the area where the windshield wipers go and then held onto the windows as the woman was speeding down Kirby towards the Southwest Freeway.
"She was going into one lanes, blowing through traffic. She knocked down stop signs or yield signs, I can't remember exactly," Delafuentes says.
The crazy ride that topped speeds of 50 miles per hour, he says, stopped when the woman lost control near Highway 59 and Kirby and ended up slamming into a guardrail.
Police were able to catch up with the woman, who tried to run away from the scene.
As of Monday afternoon, no charges have been filed in this case but the Harris County District Attorney's Office is reviewing all of the evidence.
