Man tied up, shot to death in east Harris County

Deputies searching for culprits

HOUSTON – Police are searching for suspects after a man was discovered shot to death in his east Harris County home.

Deputies were called to the house in the 7400 block of Walsh Stone Lane around 3:10 p.m. Monday.
When officers arrived, they met with one of the residents.

The man told deputies he came home from work around 3 p.m. and noticed the overhead garage door was open.

He then went inside the house and discovered his roommate, 32-year-old Jose Bonilla, lying bound and unresponsive.

EMS responded to the scene and determined Bonilla was dead from a gunshot wound.

According to homicide detectives, Bonilla was self-employed as an automobile broker and would often conduct sales transactions from his home.
Neighbors reported seeing two people in their mid-to late 30s at Bonilla's residence between 8:15 a.m. and 9 a.m. Monday. They were was driving a light-colored four-door sedan.

One neighbor said they have been seeing strange cars parked along their streets more frequently.

"I would confront them saying ‘What are you doing here? You don't belong here.' And then yesterday several of us seen two white people in front of his house," the neighbor said. "We thought to say something but then we saw the paper plates, and you know with people that were right there with him, so we said ‘You know what , he's working' so we left. And then come to find out, it was a sad deal."

Detectives say robbery appears to be the motive.
Homicide Investigators said they plan to review surveillance video in hopes of identifying the suspects.

"He was a good guy and I'm sorry to hear what happened to him," the neighbor said.
