HOUSTON – A murder suspect wanted in San Antonio is off the streets after being arrested in southwest Houston.

Investigators say Gonzalez shot and killed a man in late July then fled to Houston to hide out. The San Antonio task force contacted the Houston task force and, collectively, they  worked to track him down.

They learned Gonzalez was hiding out in an apartment in the 12200 block of Sunset Meadow Lane.

Task force officers entered the apartment, identified themselves, and found Gonzalez hiding under the bed in an upstairs bedroom. Gonzalez was then arrested and taken into custody, police say.

Gonzalez and his girlfriend, Trudy Ramos, 31, were both charged with first-degree murder.

According to police, Gonzalez allegedly shot a man following a physical altercation that took place in the 100 block of Forrest Avenue, just south of downtown San Antonio, on Monday, June 30.

Gonzalez and Ramos were witnessed stuffing the victim's limp body into the trunk of a vehicle.

Gonzalez then drove the vehicle and abandoned it in the 7200 block of Brandyridge, leaving the victim to die, police say.

San Antonio police officers discovered the vehicle and deceased victim in the trunk early the next morning and arrest warrants were issued on July 1.

Ramos was arrested that same day, but Gonzalez remained a fugitive at large until he was found in Houston.

Gonzalez is currently being held in custody at the Harris County Jail awaiting extradition to Bexar County.

Robert R. Almonte, United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas, said, "Outstanding work by the San Antonio Police Department, Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force, and The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force. All three agencies worked together to accomplish 1 mission; find him, arrest him, and put him behind bars."
